| Division 1 League - Tuesday, 18th May 2010 |

This game is always one of the toughest ties of the season for both Annacotty and Lifford and Tuesday’s nights fixture proved no different.
Aisling Annacotty started the first half in control of the game with midfielders Shona Ryan and Clodagh Dunworth spreading the ball to
the aisling wingers, Catherine Cronin and Laura Hughes, who were causing a lot of trouble for the Lifford defenders.
Aisling came close on a number of occasions within the first 15 minutes with shots from both Laura Hughes and Danielle Sheehy narrowly going wide.
In the 19th minute aisling opened the scoring through left back Rachel Stack.
Rachel’s long pass to forward Fiona Maloney caused trouble for the Lifford defenders and goalkeeper and as a result
ended up in the back of the net giving aisling the goal they deserved.
The game continued at a fast pace with the young Aisling side closing down the Lifford players and maintaining their foothold in midfield.
Aisling were unlucky not to go 2 up after the 34th minute strike from Laura Hughes only just went over the crossbar.
Both teams came out strong in the second half however it was aisling who added to their lead, with some great play between Shona
and Danielle which eventually led to a fantastic long range shot from Fiona Maloney which was smashed into the back of the net.
Lifford applied more pressure for the latter stages of the game, with central defender Louise Hency
taking control of the ball in midfield and putting a lot of pressure on the Aisling defenders. With 10 minutes to
go Lifford scored however the Aisling side held onto their lead and the game finished 2-1.
A well deserved victory for the young Aisling team.
