Lifford progressed into the final of the Division 1 cup following a tight game against Shannon Hibs on Tuesday 27th July. The game was played in excellent conditions in Ballycasey, Shannon. Both teams played some really good football throughout the game with Lifford dominating the early exchanges. However, Hibs settled and grew into the game much more towards the end of the first half with the sides going in 0-0 at the interval. The second half was an even contest with little chances of note as both defences dominated throughout. It was in the last few minutes of the game when a shot from the Lifford striker found its way past Ursula McInerney in the Hibs goal to send Lifford through to the final.
