Ballylanders won the toss and got the match underway. Both teams battled hard in the first half and Analog edged out in hopes of a score earlier on. Analog put a lot of pressure on the Ballylanders defense, especially Karen Howard who had a nice header just go over the bar. The Analog defense played very well and kept Ballylanders scoreless in the early stages of the first half. A lovely taken free kick from Emily Cleary landed in the penalty box and was just kicked over the bar by the narrowest of margins by Karen Howard. Lisa O’Keefe on the wing received a nice pass from Emily Cleary who ran at the Ballylanders defense and shot on goal but it was just pushed wide by the keeper.
Analog looked very promising and were unlucky not to have registered a score.
Bally kept pushing for a score and a cross from a tight angle saw the oncoming Ballylanders striker with little to do but to tap it home just before the end of the first half.
After a gallant performance by Analog they were unlucky to concede a goal in the first half. The half ended with Ballylanders 1 Analog 0.
Analog got the second half underway. Both teams fought hard and the Analog defense was stretched shortly after the restart and as a result Bally scored again with a shot into the bottom corner of the goals.
Analog regrouped and had the majority of the possession in the second half. Analog’s goal came with 15 minutes left and was scored by Yvette Walsh who pounced on a defenders mistake and made no mistake herself in slotting it home. Ballylanders 2 Analog 1. Play continued with more good opportunities from Analog goal but the equalizer proved elusive in the end. Full time whistle in Mungret College, Ballylanders 2 Analog 1.
