Bilboa Report

Bilboa LFC entertained Analog in a league game at home on Tuesday, 15th June 2010. Played in beautiful sunshine the game started at a slow pace with both teams testing each other out. There was very little in the way of goal mouth action in the first quarter with both teams resorting to shots from distance that never really tested the keepers. Both defenses were really on top and some great defending by both Amy Ryan and Ann Marie Leahy prevented Analog from getting in on goals when they had a massive overlap in the 23rd minute.

Disaster struck in the 27th minute when an Analog player picked the ball up on the right touchline and proceeded to dribble across the box, she seemed to hit a rather tame shot but somehow evaded both defence and Collette O’ Toole in goals and ended up in the corner of the net. Bilboa responded to this setback well and good play by Megan Byrnes and Helen Kennedy got Sheila McAteer in on goals who rounded the keeper but the angle was too tight and her shot went wide. Analog had another great shot from 30 yards but it was well saved by Collette O’ Toole in goals. At half time it stayed one nil.

The second half set off to the same tone as the first with a lot of the game being played in midfield without either team able to get a foothold on the game. In the 59th minute Bilboa nearly fell two behind when a corner came in from the left was not cleared and a snap shot taken but for a reaction save from Collette O’ Toole it would of being game over for Bilboa. This seemed to wake Bilboa up and for the rest of the game were camped in the Analog half. After a succession of corners and free kicks that never really troubled the Analog goalkeeper, the game finished.

In what was a really good close game against a strong Analog side we went down on a one nil scoreline. Great effort put in by the girls tonight but unfortunately on the wrong end of the scoreline

Anaolg Report

Analog made the trip to Bilboa Tuesday night to take on Bilboa in what were excellent conditions. Analog started strong and had a couple of shots on target from Claire O’Keefe, Miriam Liston, Davida O’Brien and April Cahalane but were just denied by the Bilboa keeper. 15 minutes into the game a great play from Aoife MacNamara, Miriam Liston and Maria Kelly put the ball into the path of April Cahalane who put the ball into the back of the net and it all started from Aoife MacNamara’s side line throw. The first half saw some great skill and passing from the Analog team and we looked the better side. Analog had a couple more chances before the end of the first half but failed to capitalize and extend their lead.

Both teams fought hard in the second half in what was a highly competitive game. Throughout the second half both teams had chances but failed to capitalize. In the dying minutes of the match Bilboa tested the Analog defense in what was looking like the equalizer but the Analog defense stood strong and made the clearance.
