Bilboa LFC played Celtic B in the league on Thursday night away in Bridgetown and collected all 3 points after a comfortable win over the home side. After the frustrations of Tuesday night Bilboa really set about their task from the word go and had taken the lead after the 3rd minute when Sheila Sheehy added to her impressive tally already this season to open the scoring. The same player double the lead on the 20th minute mark after some good play in midfield from Helen Kennedy put Sheila Sheehy through who finished it easily to the net. Bilboa were well on top at this stage and were unlucky not to get a third soon after when Margueriet Sheehy hit a thunderbolt from 30 yards that rattled the crossbar. The 3rd was soon coming though and when Helen Kennedy skipped passed a challenge in midfield she spotted the keeper of her line finished brilliantly to the net from all of 30 yards. It was all Bilboa at this stage but credit to the home team they kept hassling Bilboa all over the pitch and it stayed three nil at the break.
Bilboa tried to freshen things up a little in the second half with a number of positional changes and it had a great effect when Sheila McAteer added number four, 5 minutes after the restart, further strikes from Niamh and Elaine Berkery and an unfortunate an own goal sealed an easy seven nil win for the girls on the night. A much better performance in front of goals by the girls but with tougher nights ahead we won’t get carried away. Thanks to Celtic B for a good sporting game.
