The hoops made it six wins on the bounce following a tough encounter against Shannon Hibs on Thursday
evening last. This game was always going to test the strength of the Kilmallock squad as a number of
key players were missing due to exam commitments. We got the best possible start when Caitriona Kelly
found the net after 5 minutes and this was added to on the quarter hour mark when Marie Curtin curled
in a super freekick that deceived the home keeper and found the back of the net.
The hosts got back in the game just seconds later when Lisa Kelly in the hoops goal was adjudged to
have fouled the opposing centre forward and the resultant penalty was clinically dispatched to the net.
Kilmallock restored their two goal cushion shortly after when excellent play from Claudia Hudner on the
right wing saw her cross into the box where Catherine Coleman met the ball and steered a fabulous shot
to the net. Just before the break we made the game safe with excellent goals from Marie Curtin and
Catherine Coleman.
The second half was a much closer affair and both sets of forwards found it hard to breach the defences
with Aedin Hayes and Anna O'Dea both in superb form for Kilmallock.
Others to shine on the night for the visitors were Janice O'Connell, Sandra Gammell and Mazza Freney.
