Analog made the trip to Bilboa Thursday night to take on Bilboa in the Open Cup in what were blustery conditions. Bilboa started well and the Analog defense was put under pressure early on but Analog held tight with clearances from Juliet Twohig, Linda Garvey, Mary Burke and Mairead Hernon. Analog had one or two chances during the first half but failed to capitalize with some great play from Davida O’Brien and Miriam Liston up front. It was all to play for in the second half with neither team scoring in the first half.
The second half saw Analog attacking more and Claire O’Keefe, Karen Howard and Miriam Liston were just wide of the mark. Both teams fought hard in the second half in what was a highly competitive half. And April Cahalane pulled off some fantastic saves in both halves to keep Analog in contention. The match ended Bilboa 0 Analog 0 (FT).
Extra time got underway and Bilboa started strong, forcing Analog to play very deep and defensive in the first half. Bilboa were rewarded with a goal and took the lead 1-0 in the last few minutes of the half.
Analog started strong in the second half and were in search of the equalizer. Both teams had chances in this half. Analog tested the Bilboa defense in what was looking like the equalizer but the Bilboa defense stood strong and made the clearance.
