In a pulsating game played in Annacotty, both teams served a feast of open attacking football.
First to strike was Catherine Cronin beating the Newtown offside trap to hammer home from the edge of the box.
Aisling created many more first half chances but failed to convert and paid the price when Newtown equalised through Gillian Purcell
after excellent combination play just before half time.
The second half saw Newtown move into the lead with a controversial penalty, taken confidently by Laura Hogan.
To their credit, Aisling kept their focus and Sarah Crotty scored her first of 3 goals with a brilliant free
kick from outside the penalty area. With renewed confidence Laura Hughes added a third goal.
In a carbon copy free kick Sarah Crotty added number 4.
The final goal came from a pinpoint Catherine Cronin corner which found Sarah Crotty powering an unstoppable header
to the net completing a very impressive hat-trick.
Best for Newtown on the night were Rachel Ryan, Laura Hogan and Clare Wehrley in goal.
